Who Pays for Services?
Seniors who are eligible for Medicare and Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California) pay nothing for care through PACE at the Brandman Centers for Senior Care (BCSC). Those who are eligible for Medicare-only pay a monthly fee equal to the Medi-Cal payment. And those who are eligible for Medi-Cal with a "share-of-cost" pay a monthly premium to BCSC. There is no deductible or copayment for any drug, service, or care approved by your health care team.
The following table shows how a participant's Medicare and Medi-Cal eligibility affects payment responsibility:
|Medicare & Medi-Cal Eligibility||Payment Responsibility|
|Qualified for both and with no share-of-cost for Medi-Cal||No payment required to BCSC|
|Qualified for both but with a share-of-cost for Medi-Cal||Payment of a monthly premium to BCSC equal to share-of-cost set by Medi-Cal rules|
|Qualified only for Medicare||Payment of a monthly premium to BCSC equal to the amount Medi-Cal pays for an eligible participant, including a premium for Medicare Part D medications|
|Not qualified for either Medicare or Medi-Cal||Payment of a monthly premium to BCSC equal to the amount Medicare and Medi-Cal pay for an eligible participant|
For more information on specific payment amounts, call (818) 774-8444.
Seniors enrolled in PACE at BCSC must get all care, including primary care and specialty care (other than emergency care) from PACE, and may have to pay the cost of unauthorized or out-of-program services.
